The existing two Archimedes screw return activated sludge pumps were installed in 1991. They have lost their electrical and mechanical efficiencies due to age, wear and environmental conditions. Dillon Consulting was contracted to determine the best solution which was to replace the screw pumps with three dry pit pumps. Rather than the pumps being outside in the environment, the new dry pit pumps will be placed in the basement of the plant, close to the return activated sludge. Included in the project is three new pumps, piping and flow meters.
The Replacement of Pumps at the Wallaceburg Water Pollution Control Plant Project has a total projected value of $250,000. The timeline for this project is November 2016 to March 2018.
